In collaboration with SEDENA, MCXA has undertaken the redesign of the airport’s commercial area, with the goal of modernizing facilities and enhancing services to reflect Tulum’s growing global significance as a cultural and ecological destination.
Design Principles
The project focuses on mobility, accessibility, and user experience, rethinking the flow of passengers through optimized access points, parking areas, and public transportation connections. The design ensures a fluid and comfortable journey from arrival to departure.
Within the terminal, the commercial program introduces a curated selection of shopping and dining options, prioritizing local products and regional craftsmanship to celebrate the identity and culture of the Yucatán Peninsula.
Through its thoughtful planning and contemporary design, the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Tulum Airport redefines the traveler’s experience—transforming a point of transit into a gateway that welcomes visitors into the essence of Tulum, blending functionality, efficiency, and a sense of place.
