Malinalco

Use: Residential

The property is located on Calle Amajac S/N, Barrio Santa Mónica Malinalco State of Mexico, in an ancestral place, surrounded by abundant vegetation, on the side of a hill next to one of the three monolithic pyramids in the world, a ceremonial center Aztec.

The project is starting from the pre-Hispanic cultural context, to emphasize this idea, the use of natural and local materials such as wood, stone and Chukum (ancient Mayan stucco), while mirrors are integrated around the facades to make the building light and continuous. , creates a perfect integration with the environment and the local architectural culture. The organic form of the design is inspired by a pre-Hispanic snake that integrates with the complexity of the topography by means of platforms that overlap the terrain, as well as help to free existing trees.

One of the most interesting qualities of this project, and which largely determined the architecture and allowed integration into the environment, was that the project stands superficially on the ground, the solution follows the topography of the land, giving the impression that the architecture emerges from the landscape.
